Renovation Update – January 30, 2022

We are getting closer to the day when we will be able to start operating out of our beautifully renovation Spirit of Hope United Church building!

Inspections and certifications continue to be completed, including those related to the architectural design; construction details; fire alarm system; and the structural, mechanical and electrical systems.

A highlight for last week was the delivery and installation of furniture – chairs for the sanctuary and Lower Hall, furnishings for the café; offices, special purpose and multi-purpose rooms.

Another milestone was the installation of the organ, including wiring and speakers on the new platform at the front of the sanctuary.

Here is what our main entrance looks like – with railings installed. The accessibility ramp is located to the right of the entrance doors, close and parallel to the front edge of the building and sloping to the parking lot sidewalk.

The glass walls that enclose the front vestibule have a glazing film on them featuring the Spirit of Hope United Church logo. 

The organ has been installed as well as the speakers. The sound is wonderful.

Chairs for the sanctuary have been delivered, with and without arms.

With the work that remains, we continue to anticipate that we will be able to receive an occupancy permit and access to the sanctuary in the near future. Stay tuned for confirmation of opening day.

We are getting closer and closer to the day when we will be able to worship in our sanctuary. Meanwhile, our live-streamed Sunday worship services will continue in the gym, with our minister, choir members and other worship leaders present—and in-person attendance encouraged according to our special gathering protocols.
